Calling ALL beginner Cuttlebug Users!

Welcome to the Cuttlebug Blog. We are excited you have stopped by to visit. So relax, kick off your shoes and enjoy your stay here. We have decided to dedicate this site to beginners! (Seasoned Veterans welcome too!) As I am a beginner Cuttlebug'er I have looked around other blogs and get kind of discouraged by all the very advanced (and fabulous) designs. So I thought to myself, beginners need a place to feel welcome, make mistakes (as I am sure I will ;) and grow with creativity! So lets join together and Create, Inspire , Teach, Grow!

Weekly Inspirations

Good Monday Morning Everyone! Hope your weekend was filled with fun and good weather. The weather here is starting to be very nice. Which I am sooooo thankful for! Well, mostly anyway... I have to pull weeds out of the garden *eewww* I hate that job! :) It's nice to get the veggies tho! Any of you have gardens? What do you plant? Do you do home canning? This year will be my very first home canning experience... DH and I canned some asparagus a couple months ago... we will see how that turns out! Wanna see a pic? It looks beautiful!

MmMmMm... looks yummy...

I will let ya'll know if it is yummy! *giggle*

So, today is Inspiration day... and since the DT is on summer vacations around the globe I thought I would share some beautiful pics with you!
There is a gal on facebook, tho I cannot find her name, that takes the most AMAZING photos. I cruze through her gallery and just get so much inspiration and peace that I wanted to share some with you all!
The Facebook page is PunkinShine Productions. I wonder what these make you all feel? Sunsets and waterfalls are my ultimate joy!

The name of this pic...."unseen view"
Don't you wish you were sitting on that bench right now? Peaceful.

This one is called "footprints"
Look at all the contrast in this picture. From almost white in the sand to the green in the ocean, and darkest blue in the sky. Amazing.

This one is called "madison's fall"
This picture is full of wonder for me. I wonder what made her capture this image? I wonder what the building in the reflection actually looks like? I wonder what it would be like to try to scrap a mirrored image?
I wonder?

So... What do you all think or feel? Do you have inspiration to scrap? A favorite memory or a long lost pic that you have just happened upon? Maybe you'll dig out some old photos from your favorite place? Who knows... as for me... I am going into my flower garden and enjoying the peace and quite for a little while!
Thank you PunkinShine Productions for bringing these beautiful images to our eyes. If you all like these... you should head over and check out all the pictures she has posted!

Well thats it for me today everyone! Have a great day and don't forget.... Scrap Crazy!

Heat Embossing Tutorial

Good morning everyone! As I promised yesterday Suzann has a treat for you all today. When I asked you all what you wanted to see here... someone suggested heat embossing inspiration. Like I have said before... Ask and ye shall receive!  So I am going to turn you over to her!
Hi Everyone~
Suzann here, I am so glad to share one of my favorite techniques with you. I have created my fair share of heat embossed cards. Everything from spider webs to Christmas trees. I love how the embossed look gives a "raised" feel to any image!

Step 1: Gather Supplies
-Versamark ink pad
-embossing powder (I am using SU white)
-Heat Gun
-Card base (I used the paisley cuttlebug folder to decorate)
-stamp image (I am using Technique Tuesday)
-Tray

Step 2: Stamp image

* a little tip here: if you rub a pinch of cornstarch on your paper before you stamp the image your image will
be more detailed*
Ink the image with the versamark generously.
(because it is clear it was hard to photograph- you can hold the image up to the light and see a shiny image)

Step 3: Apply Embossing Powder

The tray is optional but will make cleanup a lot easier.
Also be sure to apply the powder heavily. It will not take much but it is better to cover the image completely.
Be sure to gently tap the paper to knock off the excess powder.

This is what the image will look like.

Step 4: Heat
Use a back and forth motion
This will prevent you from burning yourself or starting a small fire~ giggle :)

Here the image is partially heated, note that the image will begin to change colors.

Finished Project! Just added some ribbon and a bow~

I hope that this tutorial will inspire some awesome projects! Happy Scrappin!
~Suzann~

Thanx Suzann for the great heat embossing tutorial. If you guys enjoyed this tutorial let Suzann know by leaving some love for her... you never know... If we get enough comments... maybe we could talk her into doing another tutorial! :op
Scrap Crazy Everyone and have a Great Tuesday!

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

Disney Scrapbooking Inspiration & Ideas

ASK and Ye Shall Recieve!  So a few posts back I asked you all what you would like to see here at the CBB! We had some great ideas that we are trying to get accomplished to share with you all.  In that post someone said they would like to see more Disney scrapbooking inspiration & Ideas. Today I want to start a project and have you all create it with me. I want to build a mural for my nephew and niece's room. Sounds like fun huh! So I started with the center piece and now I need you all to help decide what comes next!

Disney Scrapbooking inspiration & Ideas mural

Click on the pics for more detail

So what do you think about my Disney Scrapbooking inspiration & Ideas? Cute start huh! I used Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge, Cuttlebug Herringbone embossing folder on Mickey and his star, and I used the Love Language embossing folder on Minnie and her heart! I cut them out at 10 Inches and the star and heart at 6!

Okay.... What should I do next? This is what I was thinking.... (oh... watch out this could be dangerous! *giggle*)
I could do cuts of goofy, pluto, donald, daisy, car, house, tree, fence? I also have Pooh and friends with pooh, tigger, eyore, piglet, rabbit. And I have Tinkerbell cartridge. And I have Carz cricut cartridge.
So this is the problem... I don't know what to do next. Like I said I want it to be a Mural type project. So should I do ALL of the characters or just a couple from each cart? My my my what have I gotten myself into?  I Need your help... so don't leave me hangin'!
I will post about this mural project once a week so you can see how the project is coming along and how your suggestions have helped. (ahm.......if I get too excited about something... you may see 2 or 3 posts a week *wink*)

K everyone... I can't wait to hear what your ideas are... Have a great day.... and as always SCRAP CRAZY!

Winner Winner Winner

Someone who thinks like I do has hit the game right on the nose! However, she did not reveal the correct answer but she was thinking "outside of the box" Which is fabulous! You see I believe you have to think outside of the box and be very creative sometimes. Thus playing games like these helps to activate that side of your brain.
Creativity is the ability to use different modes of thought to generate new and dynamic ideas. (carnevale, Gainer, Meltzer)

So with that being said... Miss Lorus... Please stand up! You are the Winner of a new Embossing Folder of your choice!

This is what Lorus had to say about the game:
"I counted 133 - I counted your name too. After counting all of these (and recounting because of interruptions!) I thought, oh no! this was probably a trick and I was only supposed to count the "i's" in the words "this post" or something! But I guess if so, I'm not the only one who meticulously counted this! ;) "

Congrats Girl! Email me with your addy and which folder you would like to give a home too.

Here is the correct answer:
4
"how many i's are in this post" refering too :
"ONESELF AS A SPEAKER OR WRITER"

I hope that everyone had fun playing this game... I don't want to upset anyone.... But I had no fear that you all could count... I just wanted to open your minds to new possibilities...
I want to give PROPS to all the lovely ladies who took the time to play this game!
Crystal aka Caitlynsmommy ,  goatesgirl , Creative Char
Sandra, Maureen Reiss, Dainty Diva
AShu93, The Cropping Canuck, Lorus!
I am personally saying from the bottom of my Heart:
THANK YOU! for hangin' out at the CBB and playing my CRAZY games!
So... now I want to hear your thoughts on this game... should I do more like it? Should I NEVER do another one? Should I try something different? What kind of other games do you want to play here? I am up for all kinds of suggestions ladies!

I am off to be crafty now! Have a great Sunday.... and Scrap Crazy!
p.s. don't forget about these things going on right now!:

Where and When did Scrapbooking Start?

Good Saturday Morning! Who is in game playing mood? HA! I thought so!

Please read the following. (fun facts provided by Answers.com)

Scrapbooks, as we know them today, started many centuries ago, in the form of Common place books, friendship albums, Grangerbooks, photo albums, journals, diaries, scrapbooks, and now web home pages.
Commonplace books began in the 17th century. People wrote poems, quotes, pasted newspaper articles, or shared hobbies like knitting in their books. Some of these books were purchased but many were handmade, using wall covering for the cover.
Granger books were printed books with blank pages in the back for personalizing. William Granger invented these books and also published a manual on how to do it.
The most interesting to me is the friendship album. These little books included quotes, poems, thoughts, and hair weaving of a person. Hair weaving was a common thing in Germany in the 17th century. Girls would collect hair from all the friends and weave them into intricate designs including ribbon and pressed flowers, with a remembrance about that person.
Did you know that Mark Twain was an avid scrapbooker?? He dedicated Sundays to enjoy his hobby and had 57 different scrapbooks that he sold through Montgomery Ward catalog.
The peak decade for scrapbooking was 1880-1890. Magazines of the times included articles on what to include in your scrapbooks.
Journals and diaries were very popular in the 1920's through the present, mainly kept by young girls. They included their inner most thoughts and desires.
Scrapbooks began to decline around 1940, when the popularity of personal photos and photo albums rose. It wasnt till around 1975 that scrapbooks began to get popular again with people wanting to know their "ROOTS".
Genealogy helped scrapbooking gain popularity again with finding out family history and wanting to make a book on that history.
Scrapbooking today comes in many forms. Traditional books, computer scrapbooks and family web pages. We even have one for our family and our wedding.
Scrapbooking a fad?? I dont think so. It has been around for centuries. The popularity comes and goes, but one thing is for sure, scrapbooking is for all generations! Remember that when you're scrapbooking, and think of whom in the future will see your book and how will they scrapbook?!
(thanx answers.com for the wonderful info)

Here is the game.... How many " i "s are in this post?
(Must be a follower to play and win prizes - I do check you know!)

Have fun everyone! Scrap Crazy!
